G control: Zero Electrode Wear
The new G control also reduces graphite electrode wear to less than .06% while increasing machining speed by as much as 20%. The zero wear circuit is standard on all Sodick sinker EDMs. The wear rate of a graphite electrode increases during the EDM finishing process. Often a cavity is roughed out on a mill and the cavity’s detail is machined with an EDM. The EDM process usually requires a rough, semi-finishing and finishing electrode to compensate for the electrode wear. Sodick’s new zero wear circuit eliminates the number of electrodes by minimizing electrode wear. In some cases, only 1 electrode is required. Large reduction of machining time, cost, and human errors can be expected thanks to the reduced number of electrodes. This minimal electrode wear results in sharper detail of the machined parts and saves on production / labor cost of multiple electrodes. ![]() Download the G Control flyer http://www.sodick.com/files/library/G_Control.pdf Sinker EDM product line http://www.sodick.com/index.php?t=co...category__id=2 Last edited by Isabel Florence; 10-14-08 at 08:44 AM. |
