Sodick is showing up bigger than ever to IMTS 2026 as we celebrate 50 years of innovation with machines engineered to hold micron-level accuracy, powerful lights-out production, and advanced technology designed for industries where precision is non-negotiable: aerospace, medical, mold and die, and beyond.

This is what fifty years of precision engineering looks like in practice. Come see it for yourself at Booth 338640.

Innovations at Booth 338640

Whether you’re chasing tighter tolerances in a mold cavity or trying to keep a medical component line running lights-out, there’s something on this floor built specifically for your application.

High-Precision Sinking — The AP30L is our most precise sinker to date. This oil-based machine features total thermal stability through a full-cabin option that closes off the workpiece from ambient air, eliminating thermal drift that compounds over long machining cycles. Paired with Sodick’s rigid linear motors, the AP30L holds accuracy from the first cut to the last hour of a lights-out run.

Micron-Level Wire Cutting — The AX350L Wire EDM delivers micron-level precision with thermal displacement correction and iGroove+ wire rotation built in. The wire electrode rotates continuously throughout the cut, keeping the cutting surface fresh and consistent while reducing wire consumption by up to 30%. For shops doing tight-tolerance work in mold cavities, medical components, or aerospace profiles, the consumables savings alone are worth the conversation.

Lights-Out Small Hole Drilling — The K3BL Small Hole EDM drills from 80 microns to 3mm with micron-level accuracy. The 18-station ATC option lets the machine switch electrode sizes automatically during a run. The 15-station ATC with Automatic Electrode Feeder goes further, cycling through multiple sizes without any operator involvement; purpose-built for unattended production.

Eliminate Electrode Outsourcing — The UX450L High-Speed Mill runs up to 60,000 RPM with virtually zero backlash from Sodick’s rigid linear motor drive and repeatable +/- 1-micron positioning accuracy. Hard milling, jig grinding, graphite electrode production, and part inspection — all in one machine. For shops running sinker EDMs, this eliminates the lead time and cost uncertainty of outsourcing electrode production.

Also on the floor: the ALN600G iGE+ Wire EDM, AL60G+ Sinker EDM, SZ25, and the Print Genius 400 metal 3D printer.

UR Robot + EDM: A Live Look at Lights-Out Manufacturing

Automation is one of the biggest conversations in manufacturing right now, and at IMTS 2026, you can see it running live on the Sodick floor. Stop by to watch the UR Robot integration in action and talk to our team about what adding automation could look like for your operation.

More Than Machines: The People Behind the Equipment

At IMTS 2026, we’ll have machine experts and consumables specialists on the floor all week. Whether you’re evaluating a new machine, troubleshooting a process challenge, or just trying to figure out what your next step should be, you’ll be talking to someone who knows the technology inside and out.

In addition, this is our biggest booth in IMTS history, which means more space, more machines, and more time for the conversations that matter.

Building on Decades of Precision

Sodick was founded in 1976 with a singular focus: to push machining technology into the future by building machines that drive the success of our customers. Within months of opening our doors, we delivered the world’s first NC microcomputer die-sinker EDM; immediately setting a new industry standard.

We’ve spent the fifty years since raising the bar. Patented flat rigid linear motor drives that maintain positioning accuracy year after year. Ceramic machine components engineered for thermal stability. iGroove+ wire rotation technology that revolutionized EDM results while reducing operating costs. These are the innovations that compound over decades and propel our customers into the future — and they’re built into every machine on the floor at IMTS 2026.

Designed for manufacturers who refuse to compromise on accuracy, the UX Series represents the latest evolution of our linear motor-driven milling machines, combining speed, accuracy, and consistency like never before.

Engineering Excellence: The UX Series Advantage

With a 40,000 rpm spindle, a next-generation tool changer, and backlash-free linear motor technology, the UX Series redefines what’s possible and delivers repeatable +/- 1-micron accuracy for the most intricate components. This latest iteration brings the most advanced features into a single machine tool, setting a new benchmark for precision machining.

“With the launch of the UX Series, we are ushering in a new era of high-speed milling—one defined by unmatched positioning accuracy, seamless automation, and long-term reliability,” says Mark Sanhamel, Vice President of Sodick Inc. “The UX450L and UX650L are the future of precision manufacturing, empowering manufacturers to push boundaries and achieve next-level efficiency.”

Key Features of the UX Series:

Efficiency Unlocked: In-House Electrode Machining for ALG Sinker EDMs

For manufacturers that rely on sinker EDM machines, the UX High-Speed Milling Centers are the ultimate solution for producing high-quality graphite electrodes in-house—eliminating the need for costly outsourced replacements with variable lead times.

By integrating the UX Series with Sinker EDM machines, shops can significantly reduce lead times, lower production costs, and improve electrode quality—ensuring precise, high-performance machining from start to finish.

Benefits of In-House Graphite Electrode Machining

For shops already utilizing EDM Sinkers, the UX Series is a game-changer—creating a seamless, high-efficiency ecosystem that enhances productivity and redefines the electrode manufacturing process.

Why Linear Motor Milling is a Game Changer

In precision machining, motion control is everything. The difference between linear motor-driven milling and traditional ball screw-driven systems is not just about speed—it’s about long-term accuracy, efficiency, and machine longevity.

Ball Screw vs. Rigid Linear Motor: What’s the Difference?

Traditional milling machines rely on ball screw-driven motion systems, which use a threaded shaft and ball bearings to convert rotary motion into linear movement. While this method has been widely used, it introduces inherent mechanical limitations.

Ball and Screw Limitations

Sodick’s rigid linear motor drive system eliminates these limitations entirely. Instead of relying on physical contact, our machines use magnetic fields to generate smooth, frictionless motion, ensuring absolute positioning accuracy with zero mechanical wear.

Linear Motor Benefits

The UX Series takes this proven technology even further—incorporating enhanced thermal stability, advanced cooling systems, and optimized machine rigidity.

The result? Unmatched repeatability, better part finishes, and the confidence that your machine will perform with the same accuracy for years to come—no mechanical wear, no compromise, just precision machining at its finest.
