Sodick’s Linear Motor Drive comes standard on the Z-Axis of the K1BL Hole Driller, enabling drilling of microscopic holes that are impossible to achieve with conventional machines. Additionally, the highly responsive servo system boosts machining speed and reduces electrode wear.
The K1BL has a gantry style structure, utilizing a main column that is supported by two additional columns with high rigidity, enabling stable machining at all times. Thermal distortion is eliminated due to the structure of the machine, allowing for consistent accuracy. Together, these technologies and design enable the K1BL to achieve microscopic holes.
The K Series features energy-saving designs and technologies. Compared to conventional EDMs, the Sodick Small Hole EDM Range can reduce average energy consumption by up to 60, decreasing operating costs and contributing to sustainable manufacturing.
The Automatic Electrode Changer (AEC) with 18 positions comes standard with the K1BL, allowing for continuous multi-hole machining. Combined with shanked electrodes (φ0.08 to 0.25 mm), the K1BL supports micro hole machining while minimizing electrode runout.
LN Assist comes standard on all K1BL small hole EDMs, offering a simplified graphics interface for easy operation. With capability for automatic calculations and macro functions, operators can manage complex cutting layouts and create their own programs regardless of skill level. Once setup is complete, the assist software can position cutting locations and coordinate settings.
